Heidi Gehry takes a bubble bath in the fountain on the stairs built for Moussolini. (Heidi Geri nimmt ein Schaumbad im Brunnen auf dem Treppenaufgang, der für Schaumolini gebaut wurde.)
by Marlene Haring, 2004

bathing performance, Austrian Cultural Forum, Rome, 25 June 2004
series of three photographs, each 70 x 105 cm

Marlene writes: As a spectacle for the official summer party of the Austrian Cultural Forum, I — as Heidi Ghery —bathed and washed myself properly in a bubble bath in the disused fountain on the staircase built by the Austrians in the 1930s to welcome Mussolini. But the dictator never came. After I finished my bath, water continued to fill the basin, forcing the foam to make its way down the staircase. The massive staircase as well as its fountain are not in use today.
